Frequently asked questions. And of course, the answers.
Independent Living & Lifecare FAQs.
Q: What is Lifecare?
A: With Lifecare at Friendship Village of Dublin, you and your estate are protected from the spiraling costs of long-term health care. Independent residency includes the cost of long-term nursing care, basic assisted living, substantial savings on memory loss care, and lifetime priority use of these on-site services. This is made possible through a one-time entry fee, which is based on the size and style of the residence you choose. As a Lifecare resident, if you or your spouse ever needs care, your independent living monthly fee won’t increase, except for two additional meals daily and any additional health care services not included in the monthly fee.
Q: Is Lifecare my only independent living option?
A: Only villa residents currently have a non-Lifecare option.
Q: What does the monthly fee cover?
A: The monthly fee is determined by the size and style of residence you choose, and covers a comprehensive collection of services and amenities. These include:
- One meal per day
- Weekly flat linen service
- Housekeeping service twice per month
- 24-hour security
- All utilities, including reimbursement of your monthly local telephone service fee
- Scheduled transportation
- All interior and exterior maintenance
- Fitness center
- Olympic-sized pool
- Access to the many other services and amenities available to all residents
Q: Is the monthly fee subject to change?
A: Yes. We may periodically adjust fees at a rate that reflects costs of operation and allows us to maintain our sound financial basis. Notification of any increase in the monthly fee is given to all residents no less than 30 days in advance. This adjustment generally occurs on an annual basis.
Q: Are there tax advantages to Lifecare?
A: Yes. The federal government views part of the cost of independent living at Friendship Village of Dublin to be deductible as prepaid health care expenses on each year's federal tax return. Residents should contact their personal tax advisor regarding this deduction.
Family & Caregiver FAQs.
Q: Can a person be admitted directly to health care, bypassing independent living?
A: Yes. We accept direct admissions into all levels of care, provided there is space available without jeopardizing the needs of our independent living residents. Such admissions are subject to the current fees for our health care services.
Q. What senior care services does Friendship Village of Dublin offer?
A. Friendship Village of Dublin offers assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing and long-term care — all tailored to deliver a customized plan that can change over time to meet each resident’s evolving needs and lifestyle preferences.
Q. How will I know which level of care is appropriate?
A. Caring for your loved one and providing the right level of care is at the heart of everything we do. Prior to move-in, a wellness evaluation will be completed by your loved one’s personal physician. This report is then reviewed by our Director of Nursing to determine which level of care will meet the specific needs and desires of your loved one.
Q. What assisted living services and amenities do you offer?
A. Assisted living at Friendship Village of Dublin is characterized by a distinctive combination of individualized care, warm neighborhood surroundings and professional expertise. Those who choose our community will enjoy private residences and are assured of ongoing wellness evaluations and levels of care that address their specific needs. Our licensed, compassionate staff members are always available to assist with daily tasks, while wide-ranging services and amenities provide the time and opportunity to enjoy the things that matter most.
Q. How does memory support differ from assisted living?
A. We understand that memory loss, whether Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, affects more than just one person. That’s why we not only work with the resident, but also with their family members and caregivers, to find the perfect balance of respect and care from day to day.
Our memory support residences and services are thoughtfully and carefully designed to ensure that residents feel safe and secure. Our program enhances residents’ confidence in an environment that promotes choice, familiar schedules and surroundings.
Q. What are the important signals that a loved one might need help?
A. If you can answer yes to any of these questions, you should probably make an appointment to begin the conversation about the benefits of the assisted living experience for your loved one.
1. Have you noticed your loved one is no longer eating well-balanced meals?
2. Have your loved one’s personal grooming and hygiene declined?
3. Are the house and yard not as well kept as they used to be?
4. Is your loved one having difficulty managing medications properly?
5. Is transportation an issue to get to shopping, appointments, etc.? Are you concerned about your loved one’s driving safety?
Q. What if my loved one needs more assistance than that provided in assisted living or memory support?
A. Long-term care offers residents comprehensive, round-the-clock licensed care, including regular wellness evaluations. Whether the need is for more hands-on assistance with routine activities or rehabilitation services, skilled nursing provides a high level of clinical care that ensures each individual’s needs are met, while providing peace of mind for those who love them.
