Our Favorite Holiday Tradition Returns for 2025

Every December, as the lights go up and the halls fill with various bows, ribbons, and festive decorations, something magical happens at Friendship Village of Dublin. A tiny visitor arrives quietly as December takes hold—bright-eyed, quick-footed, witty, and full of festive curiosity.

His name is Friendly, and this merry elf has made it his annual mission to explore every corner of our campus while spreading as much holiday cheer as possible.

Watch the video below to experience some of his holiday adventures, then keep reading to learn how much Friendly means to everyone in our community.

From Poolside Lounging to Watercolor Classes

He has been known to hang out by the Olympic-sized pool with elf-sized beach towels, have his hair styled at the salon, sneak into watercolor classes to make beautiful works of art, and “help” our teams set up holiday decorations.

Spreading Holiday Magic Across Campus and Beyond

He’s been testing the limits of where an elf can go—sneaking into morning fitness classes, “assisting” the Culinary Team with holiday party prep (mostly by creating extra mess), and warming up by the fireplace with residents at Rowan House. Whether he’s perched on the edge of a puzzle table, rearranging tools (or riding a saw) in the woodshop, or leaving tiny notes of encouragement around campus, Friendly always finds a way to make someone smile.

For the first time since joining the FVD family, this year Friendly took a journey off campus, chaperoning field trips, Resident grocery runs, and visits to Residents at The Bailey at Bridge Park and the Friendship at Home Members.

Beloved Mischief Maker Brings Warmth and Wonder

His playful presence encourages us to slow down, enjoy the small moments, and share a little extra cheer with one another.

Throughout the month, Friendly embarked on many adventures: each braver, bolder, and more imaginative than before. While we never quite know where he’ll turn up next, one thing is sure: he brings with him a sense of warmth and wonder that reflects the Friendship Village of Dublin community.

Silly? Perhaps. Meaningful? Absolutely!

As a part of the Friendship Village family, you get to follow and be a part of Friendly’s escapades (maybe by helping keep him out of trouble).

If you didn’t get to meet Friendly in person this year, don’t worry. Just like the holidays, he’ll be returning for more adventures and mischief this time next year!
