Active Aging Week

Originally created in 2003 by the International Council of Active Aging, Active Aging Week celebrates the positivity of aging today. The weeklong campaign challenges society’s expectation of aging by showing that, regardless of age or health conditions, older adults can live a full life in all areas – physical, social, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, vocational and environmental.

At Friendship Village of Dublin, we encourage active aging every day with our nine Dimensions of Wellness. Our wellness approach takes a whole-person, community-wide approach to health.

To celebrate Active Aging Week this year, we are kicking our wellness program up a notch with a week of activities devoted to healthy and happy aging! This year’s theme is “New York City – Ignite your passion in the City of Dreams.” Our residents will get to participate in a variety of exciting activities including, Wheel of Fortune, New York-themed movie nights, a songwriting workshop, karaoke and cocktails and of course, eating some New York style pizza.

We’re proud to participate in a week that has such a positive impact worldwide and we can’t wait to celebrate the week “New York style” with our residents!

How are you celebrating Active Aging Week? We’d love to hear in the comments below!
