Friendship Village of Dublin residents Mervin and Barbara Muller recently celebrated Mervin’s 90th birthday by hosting a family reunion at Friendship Village of Dublin. With 24 family members ranging from seven to 90-years-old, there was never a dull moment.
To accommodate their large family overnight, they rented the four on-site guest rooms in the main building for the entire weekend. After living in a villa for the last four years, they thought it was time to invite their entire family together to celebrate!
“It can be hard to find a place where a family of 24 people can gather for an entire weekend,” Barbara said. “Having a gathering room at Friendship Village was amazing — we didn’t even have to leave the community.”
The Muller’s used the Kinsale Room for the entire weekend, setting up tables for both dining and games. From swimming and shuffleboard to on-site meals, there was plenty of activities to keep the grandkids and adults entertained.
“Everyone had a great time — it was very comfortable for the entire family,” Barbara said. “A few of them told me it felt like they were staying at a resort for a weekend getaway!”
While the Muller’s enjoyed being able to host their family, they were eager to introduce them to their friends at Friendship Village.
“We were nervous to leave our neighborhood because we had lived there for more than 30 years, but now we still have all of our old connections and plenty of new ones,” said Barbara. “One of the best parts was finally introducing my family to all the friends I’ve made here.”
