Since 2022, Friendship Village of Dublin has honored Black History Month by partnering with a Black-owned business in central Ohio. This February, we delighted in The Suite Treat‘s irresistible handcrafted desserts.
On February 5, the company’s founder, Sir Allen, set up a display featuring a selection of handcrafted cookies for Residents and associates, along with the story of how his family’s legacy became the heart of his business.
Sir Allen’s baking journey began at age 6, guided by his late Aunt Roberta and her cherished cheesecake recipe. Those early days in the kitchen shaped his skills, discipline, and pride, laying the foundation for his strong work ethic.
Sir Allen credits his grandmother for teaching him perseverance and never giving up. That lesson shows up in every product he creates and every customer he serves.
Years later, after baking nearly 800 cheesecakes in one bustling holiday season, he realized his passion had grown beyond a simple pastime. With courage and faith, he launched The Suite Treat to offer sweet treats and event planning.
Today, his Pickerington-based business delights companies, celebrations, and events across the Columbus area. He turns each order into an unforgettable experience, with a “talk-of-the-town” vibe.
Sir Allen welcomed our community with his signature OG Chocolate Chip and White Chocolate Chip Biscoff cookies, artfully displayed on elegant gold tiered stands and surrounded by warm, inviting décor. The beautifully arranged table, complete with thoughtfully packaged treats and a branded backdrop, set the tone for an experience that felt both professional and personal. As Residents gathered around the display, he seamlessly transitioned from sharing sweets to sharing wisdom, sparking meaningful conversations about entrepreneurship, perseverance, and the importance of legacy.
Managers also handed out Sir Allen’s cookies to associates, turning The Suite Treat into the highlight of our community on a chilly Friday afternoon.
He made such an impression that he has already been asked to come back and provide desserts for a Resident’s upcoming 90th birthday party this March.
RISE: Our Values in Action
Celebrating Black History Month aligns with our community’s mission and core values.
Our mission is “To care for, engage, and inspire our community to reimagine and maximize the quality of life at every age.” It shapes every aspect of our operations.
Our core values, which spell out the acronym RISE, guide every decision we make.

RESPECT means valuing every individual and fostering a culture of listening and care. Partnering with a Black-owned business during Black History Month allows us to listen and learn about Black entrepreneurs and support their businesses.
INTEGRITY calls us to act with honesty, transparency, and ethical excellence.
INNOVATION challenges us to think creatively about how senior living connects to the broader world. Building meaningful partnerships with local entrepreneurs keeps our community engaged and forward-thinking.
STEWARDSHIP requires responsible management of resources to ensure long-term community success. Supporting Columbus-area businesses strengthens the economic ecosystem we share.
EXCELLENCE drives us to deliver exceptional service, care, and experiences every day. From the quality of the treats to the thoughtful conversation they inspired, this visit reflected that standard.
RISE is a framework for action. Our Black History Month celebration is just one example of how we put it into practice.
Strengthening Our Community Through Intentional Action

We believe that senior living communities thrive when they help Residents stay connected to the broader community.
Our February partnership helped us celebrate Black History Month in a visible, meaningful way. It highlighted a local entrepreneur’s journey and invited our Residents to connect with the people and businesses shaping Central Ohio.
