The Friendship Village of Dublin Adventure Club got off to a great start with a trip to Vertical Adventures two weeks ago!
Five of our community members got their active gear on and gave indoor rock climbing a try.
The day started with an orientation video to explain the climbing rules and safety tips. From there, each Friendship Villager was harnessed and started climbing with the assistance of a certified instructor.
While some seniors were more eager than others, everyone completed at least one wall climb. The oldest community member to participate was 87!
When asked about her experience, Friendship Village of Dublin community member, Sandy Loar, said, “It was challenging!” That didn’t stop her from mastering more climbs during the remainder of her time there.
Whether or not the residents thought they would try rock climbing again, most agreed that this would be a great place to bring their grandchildren.
With our first successful Adventure Club outing in the books, we’re excited to continue to plan fun and active events for Friendship Village of Dublin residents! The next event will be a 1.5-mile walk. Stay tuned for more Adventure Club updates!
