Congratulations to Former Board Members Charles Ansley and Laura Ecklar, who have been appointed to new positions as Honorary Directors!
“We are proud to recognize Mr. Ansley and Ms. Ecklar’s substantial impact while serving on our all-volunteer board of directors,” said Executive Director Rita Doherty. “Through their dedicated service and leadership, we have made incredible advances in our mission to enhance the lives of older adults.”
Friendship Village of Dublin was founded in 1981 by a group of Columbus residents committed to developing a not-for-profit retirement living community to serve the people of Columbus, Ohio.
Decades of Service Have Guided our Community’s Growth
Mr. Ansley has provided financial guidance for nearly half of our organization’s existence, eventually serving 20 years. As Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee, he helped the community achieve outstanding financial stability, contributing to its initial Fitch A- rating.
He also helped create Friendship Village of Dublin’s Investment Policy and was a key member of two Executive Director search committees. Currently, he serves on the Finance Committee in an advisory role. He resides in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Laura Ecklar’s board tenure included serving as Chair of the Marketing & Sales Committee, Board Vice-Chair, and Board Chairperson. She provided valuable leadership during Rita Doherty’s selection and onboarding as executive director. She also played a vital role in our move to become an independently managed community as we severed a relationship with a long-time senior living management group. She resides in Columbus, Ohio.
Investing Over $100 Million through Master Plans
Mr. Ansley and Ms. Ecklar helped guide Friendship Village of Dublin through two significant Master Plans.
Our community invested over $100 million to develop new Independent Living residences and upgraded building interiors. We also expanded continuing care capabilities through our new or renovated Alderwood Health & Rehab, Waterford Place Assisted Living and Rowan House Memory Care communities.
“Now that our Master Plan is complete, our community offers more space and more comprehensive care than ever,” Rita said.
During their tenure, Friendship Village of Dublin also expanded our senior living options. In 2015, we introduced the innovative Friendship At Home membership plan, which enables central Ohio seniors to retire at home with the security of LifeCare.
In 2022, we began construction on The Bailey at Bridge Park, a luxury 55+ rental apartment community that will open in 2024.
“Friendship Village of Dublin wouldn’t be where we are today without Charles’s and Laura’s leadership. We thank them for their extraordinary contributions and congratulate them on earning the distinction of Honorary Director,” Rita concluded.
