Happy National Senior Citizens Day from Friendship Village of Dublin! We celebrate our community members every day, but today is extra special.

National Senior Citizens Day was established in 1988 by President Ronald Regan to honor and celebrate the senior citizen community. According to HolidayInsights.com, the holiday was created to “demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older.” The holiday is devoted to recognizing and showing appreciation for the value and contributions seniors bring to home, family and society.

Today is a great day to spend time with the older adults in your life. If you’re with a loved one today and looking for special ways to celebrate, check out this list of ideas of 6 things to do to celebrate Senior Citizens Day.
