The winter season is an exciting time at Friendship Village of Dublin. We’re always encouraging residents to find their next passion, hobby or adventure and the winter is a great time to try something new.
Below are a few of our recommended activities for a joyous winter season spent either throughout our community or around central Ohio.
Explore The Broader Community
Friendship Village of Dublin is a quick trip to Columbus’s bustling downtown and just a few minutes from downtown Dublin. Visit a new restaurant for a warm meal with friends and family or see a show at one of the many entertainment events across the city. If you’re looking to learn something new, visit your local library with the grandkids or spend a day at the Columbus Museum of Art.
Find Your Favorite Exercise Class
February is American Heart Month. Exercise is one of the numerous ways you can remain healthy throughout the winter months. Between our community’s indoor swimming pool and variety of exercise classes, residents are able to remain active while spending quality time with fellow residents. If the weather permits, a quick walk outside provides fresh air and a great view of winter landscapes.
Take A Trip
Whether it’s for a day trip or long weekend, traveling is a perfect winter activity for retirees with extra time on their hands. Our resident excursions have taken us to destinations such as the Franklin Park Conservatory and Topgolf, making for a day of fun and fellowship among residents and staff.
Engage In Volunteer Work
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and serve those in your community while combining your lifelong passions. Whether it’s playing with furry friends at the local animal shelter, serving warm meals at a local shelter or spending time with a friend in need, use the cooler weather as an opportunity to better your community.
Discover A New Hobby
Lifelong learning doesn’t end with retirement, and spending extra time indoors allows one to spend time doing what they love. Our community is dedicated to connecting residents with their passions whether it’s through off-site excursions, informational speakers or consistently-offered programing. Residents can find a new hobby easily through a variety of activities such as painting and woodworking classes, a resident-led book club or a Wii bowling league.
Remember to stay warm and active throughout the winter season. Similar to our residents, we hope you will consider these exciting activities around central Ohio.
