Rooted in People, Gratitude Grows at Friendship Village

Residents at Friendship Village of Dublin embraced the seasonal change and took a moment to highlight what they are thankful for. We asked residents what they love about FVD. Here is what we learned.

A large paper tree hangs on the wall. Residents have added paper leaves and apples with messages of what they love about FVD, making the tree look like its blooming with positivity. As Thanksgiving approaches, many of us take time to reflect on the people and experiences that bring meaning to our lives. This year at Friendship Village of Dublin, we invited residents to share feedback about something they love about FVD by adding a leaf or apple to our Gratitude Tree near the main lobby.

What began as a fun way to encourage residents to participate in our annual satisfaction survey quickly became something much more meaningful.

Within days, the tree was filled with more than 100 messages of appreciation, gratitude, and joy. Some notes were heartfelt. Others were humorous. Together, they painted a beautiful picture of life at Friendship Village of Dublin.

A red paper apple has "The People" on it.And while residents mentioned many things they love and appreciate, one theme stood out above all others:

People.

Again and again, residents expressed gratitude for the neighbors who became friends, the associates who provide exceptional care and service, and the sense of belonging that makes Friendship Village feel like home.

Comments celebrated friendly faces, helping hands, shared laughter, meaningful relationships, and the feeling of being part of something special. Whether they were thanking a staff member, a fellow resident, or the community as a whole, the message was remarkably consistent:

People are what make Friendship Village extraordinary.

Of course, the people are only part of the story.

Many residents expressed appreciation for the exceptional dining experiences available throughout the community. From favorite meals and chef-inspired dinners to Sunday brunches shared with friends, food continues to be an important way our community comes together.

Others highlighted the peace of mind that comes from living in a safe and secure environment. Knowing that transportation, support services, and assistance are available when needed allows residents to focus less on daily worries and more on enjoying life.

The spirit of fun was another recurring theme. Residents shared gratitude for parties, social events, games, classes, fitness opportunities, entertainment, and the countless ways they can stay active and engaged. At Friendship Village, there is always something happening and always someone willing to join in.

Many residents reflected on opportunities for creativity and lifelong learning through art programs, classes, and cultural experiences both on and off campus. For some, these opportunities have even helped fulfill dreams they’ve carried for years. For others, they are new interests to explore.

Collectively, the messages on the Gratitude Tree revealed something powerful. While residents appreciate the services, amenities, and activities available at Friendship Village of Dublin, what they cherish most is the community itself.

This Thanksgiving season, we’re grateful for every resident, family member, volunteer, and team member who helps make Friendship Village of Dublin a place where people feel connected, supported, and valued.

After all, the greatest blessing of community isn’t what we have.

It’s who we share it with.
