Spiritual wellness is a top priority for many Columbus seniors. In fact, a University of Chicago study found belief in a higher power increases as we age, regardless of where we live. The research showed that spirituality becomes even more important after we reach age 68.

At Friendship Village of Dublin, spiritual wellness is one of 9 wellness dimensions we call The Village Way. This holistic approach helps our residents live their best lives at every age.

Defining Spiritual Wellness

The National Wellness Institute broadly defines spiritual wellness as, “the search for meaning and purpose in human existence.”

There may be as many paths to spiritual wellness as there are people. Whether your faith tradition dates from childhood or you’re exploring spiritual dimensions for the first time, wellness is within your reach.

Spiritual Practices Support Mental and Physical Health

Spirituality can help us find the inner calm and peace needed to get through whatever life brings.

Among many benefits, spiritual practices have a positive impact on mental health, healthy behaviors, and even risks of coronary artery disease and cancer, according to researchers at Harvard University and other top academic medical centers.
