The residents at Friendship Village of Dublin enjoy giving back – so much that they have created a scholarship fund to support employees and their family members. Since the scholarship started, residents have awarded 67 scholarships totaling more than $125,000!
One of this year’s scholarship recipients, Medine Baspinar, is currently a Care Partner for the Home Services department. Her mother is a cook in Culinary Services and her father works in Environment Support Services.
Medine is a third-year Public Health major at The Ohio State University. After graduation she plans on attending nursing school, which will lead her to her ultimate goal of becoming a Neo-Natal Nurse Practitioner.
Medine began volunteering at Friendship Village of Dublin during her sophomore year of high school. She originally started as a volunteer in the Health Center activities department. “Through this experience, I realized how much I loved being at Friendship Village of Dublin and spending time with the residents,” Medine said.
After her volunteer experience, Medine was hired as a Life Enrichment Associate and later a Diet Aid. She says, “I have the opportunity to help residents more with their daily activities than I have before! This makes working at Friendship Village of Dublin very enjoyable!”
Medine credits her passion for nursing from learning more about the health care field at Friendship Village. “I saw how much I loved working with people closely and impacting their lives as much as they impact mine. Friendship Village has helped me keep the passion I have towards helping others and has opened opportunities for me,” she says.
Congratulations to Medine and all of the other scholarship recipients! We are fortunate to have you as a part of our community.
